Welcome to the WMCIU Website

The West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit (WMCIU) is part of an international and national network of cancer registries. We have been a population based registry for the West Midlands region since 1957 and have collected data about cancers diagnosed in Birmingham hospitals since 1937. In 1998 the West Midlands breast and cervical screening quality assurance reference centres became part of the WMCIU. The WMCIU also hosts the regional Health Geographical Information Systems Service.

The main menu to the left provides more detailed information about the services provided by the WMCIU
